Psalm 23:6
” Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever”.
This psalm was written by David as a profession of joyful faith and trust in the Lord and sang as a song of worship around the third century B.C.
David is in agony and he appeals to God for healing based on the fact that God had promised him unfailing love. Previously, in Psalm 6 : 4, David asked God for deliverance from a severe illness that had befallen him. David reasons that because of God’s unfailing love; he should be healed.
This type of love is a reference to past covenants or agreements where God promised to give David and other followers of God – love, kindness, and mercy forever. Verse 6 in Psalm 23 reflects on this agreement of love and suggests that it, along with goodness, will always surround the Believer forever. In Hebrew the word forever means throughout the years.
Throughout the years in faith believers in the Lord can rest in knowing that God will not abandon them ( see Psalm 16:9-11). Christians will have eternal life, and God assures us that by telling us we will go into his house, (John 14:3) at the end of our days. Knowing that our life will continue in God’s house after we die – our present life should consist of joy and faith, dissolving all fear and anxiety.
These types of scriptures are very powerful when repeater over and over to oneself or used with some type of meditation cd.
